Clyde D. Cox 80, a longtime resident of Deerfield, OH died on Friday, October 17, 2014 at the Woodlands at Robinson following a brief illness. He was born on September 7, 1934 in Gilmer County, WV, the oldest child of Paul W. and E. Blanche (King) Cox. Clyde was a 1954 graduate of Troy High School and served in the US Army. He retired from General Motors in Lordstown, OH, was a member of UAW Local 1714, worked in a hardware store after retirement, was a Past Master, Trustee and Custodian of Charity Lodge #530 in Deerfield, OH. In 1957 he married May (Liberty) and they enjoyed almost 52 years of marriage before she passed away in 2009. Survivors include his daughters Janice Fike of North Benton, OH and Joyce Cox of Deerfield, OH, grandchildren Christine (John) Fleshner and Scott Fike, great granddaughter Samantha Fleshner, sisters Karen (Fred) Beech of Avon Lake, OH and Linda Cox of Parkersburg, WV, brothers Avon (Jerry Sue) Cox of Vienna, WV, Alvin (Bev) Cox of Delaware, OH and Arden Cox (Mary Moore) of Glenville, WV, sister in law Judy Cox of Parkersburg, brother in laws Johnny and Merle Liberty of Lancaster, PA and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife May, an infant daughter, sister Ruth Ann Beech and a brother Roger D. Cox. Memorial calling hours will be from 11 AM to 11:45 AM Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Deerfield Masonic Lodge, 2380 State Route 225, Deerfield, OH 44411. Masonic services will be at 11:45 AM Saturday followed by a memorial service at 12:00 PM at the lodge. Private burial has taken place at Deerfield Cemetery.
