Curtis W Davis, Sr.

Curtis W. Davis, Sr., 89 of Rootstown passed away Sunday February 9, 2014 at the Kent Health Care.  He was born June 25, 1924 in Suffield, Ohio to the late William and Crissie (Doak) Davis.  He has lived in Rootstown the past 48 years and was a member of the Rootstown Communtiy Bible Church.  Mr. Davis had farmed in his early years, worked at Cornwell Tool and retired after 30 years of service from General Tire in Akron, after retirement he worked for Giant Eagle as a Janitor.  He loved church, music and his family and liked old tractors, old cars and gardening.  Survivors include his wife Idabell M. (Lorenzen) Davis whom he married July 2, 1962,  his children  Curtis W. (Beth) Davis, Jr.,  Kimberly P. (Joel) Vitchkoski of Merrimack, NH, Sherri J. Bpyd of Las Vegas, NV, his step children Linda (Jim) Adelman of Randloph ,OH. and Cathy McCurry of Jacksonville, Florida, 12 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson James McCammon, his siblings Bill, Melvin, Gurdon, Glen, Paul, Jane Warner, Dorothy Brumbaugh, Hazel Martz and Bernice Held.  Calling hours will be 6-8 PM Thursday February 13, 2014 at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel where funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday February 14, 2014 with Pastor Scott Hindel officiating.  Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park Ravenna, Ohio.  Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.sscfuneralhomes.com.
