Curtis N. Harris, 82, of Rootstown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at his home with his family by his side. Curt was born on February 4, 1944, in Kimberly, West Virginia, to his late parents, C. Lucien and Ermal E. (Lowry) Harris. He built a life defined by hard work, devotion to family, and a deep sense of responsibility to those he loved. Curt was a proud blue-collar worker who spent his career as an electrician at General Motors in Lordstown, OH, retiring in 2004. Known for his strong work ethic and ingenuity, he not only excelled in his trade but consistently found ways to serve others - including creating a small coffee service for coworkers simply to make their days a little better. On June 27, 1964, Curt married the love of his life, Karen S. (Newcomb) Harris. Together, they shared 62 years of marriage, building a life rooted in love, respect, and partnership. Their relationship was a true example of devotion - one that left a lasting impression on all who knew them. Curt was a devoted father to his children, Jim (Jennifer) Harris and Sue (Andy) Santerre. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle; his son-in-law, Doug O’Dor; and his siblings, Cecil, Leah, and Kevin. Family was everything to Curt. He was a constant presence in the lives of his children and grandchildren -Aly, Erin (Chris), Grant, Tyler, Sara, Samantha, and Colleen (Kyle) - and great-grandchildren, Dottie, Declan, and Owyn. Whether cheering from the sidelines, lending a hand, or simply showing up, he was always there. Curt had a passion for bowling, achieving three perfect 300 games and multiple 800 series over the years. He also loved cars, Jeeps, and NASCAR racing, and enjoyed working with his hands as a mechanic and tinkerer. Curt and Karen spent many cherished winters in Florida, where they volunteered together at Koreshan State Park in Estero, FL. He was a docent in the industrial area and took great pride in restoring and operating the historic equipment and sharing information with guests for more than a decade. He was also deeply involved in his community, serving as a Cub Scout leader, a Little League coach, and “team dad,” affectionately known as “D-man” to many. His kindness extended far beyond his own family - always willing to step in and support others in times of need. Those who met Curt may have first noticed his imposing stature, 6’3” and barrel-chested, but quickly discovered his gentle nature and generous heart. In addition to his wife and children, Curt is survived by his sisters-in-law, Maureen Joy and Josetta Harris, as well as many extended family members and friends. In honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Curt’s legacy lives on in the values he embodied - work hard, love deeply, and always show up for the people who matter.
