Daniel A. Drugan, 57, of Ravenna, passed away on September 17th, 2012 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Ravenna to Ralph W. and Frankie M. (Carrigan) Drugan. The fifth child and second son of eight children, he was much loved. He attended Ravenna Schools and was a member of the class of 1973. Dan possessed an enduring love of the outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman, on opening day of the season you were sure to find him enjoying the peacefulness of the lake or the woods. This love of nature led him to sometimes rescue animals and his daughter fondly remembers the red-tailed hawk that he raised and released. His hobbies included playing cards, hunting for antique artifacts, in particular, old bottles, iron toys and keys. As a young man, he enjoyed lending a hand to others and in turn learned many useful  skills. He managed to become a jack-of-all-trades, contracting for construction and  painting work. In the early 1980's he worked for ATS, Inc. installing 300 foot communication towers and their information systems. Dan's desire to become a Marine was cut short by a medical discharge due to a broken back. Despite many difficulties and injuries during his lifetime, he endured with quiet acceptance. He found great joy in being a father to his daughter, Jennifer and enjoyed country music. He approached life as a great adventure. He was preceded in death by his parents. Daniel is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Danielle Drugan and her partner, Jeremey Gearhiser and grandson Brandon of Montgomery, Texas. He will be sadly missed by his brothers and sisters, Diane (Louis) Dudek, of Ravenna, Deborah (Dr. Richard) Gregory, of Aurora, Ohio, Melody (Fred) Greene, of Columbus, Ohio, John F. (Tracy) Drugan, of Ravenna, Thomas Drugan of Warren, Ohio, Judith (Christ) Coteff, of Helotes, Texas, Carol (Vito) Matarrese, of Shalersville, Ohio, an aunt Inez Staley, of Columbus, Ohio and an uncle Robert (Eleanor) Drugan, of Ravenna, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 3rd, 2012, at 10 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Church, located at 409 West Main St., Ravenna, Ohio. Father John Madden will officiate.
