Daniel L Heasley

Daniel L. Heasley, 70, of Edinburg, Ohio, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2026, with his wife and daughter at his bedside.

Dan was born August 4, 1956, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Daniel D. and Sandra L. (Sholler) Heasley.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores Heasley; daughter Rosemary Bulman and son-in-law Ben Bulman; and his greatest joys, his grandsons Oliver J. Bulman and Theodore H. Bulman. He is also survived by his mother, Sandra L. Nickles; his sister, Andrea (Jim) Nunley; Nephew, Travis (Danielle) Nunley; and many lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel D. Heasley, and his stepfather, William Nickles.

Dan had a phenomenal sense of humor and a gift for making people laugh. He loved cooking, going for drives in the country, feeding the birds, his dogs, and especially the ocean. Some of his happiest days were spent simply being with his family—camping with his grandsons, sitting around the fountain in the backyard, or taking up his usual spot at the end of the counter at Rosey and Ben’s donut shop.

Dan spent many years working in management and sales in the automobile business, where he loved the camaraderie and formed friendships that lasted throughout his life. He also had an entrepreneurial streak of his own. Over the years he opened restaurants, bought and sold vintage furniture and spiritual treasures, and was involved in building a home on family land and restoring 3 others.

Although, to be clear, Dan mostly supervised the building and remodeling! Anyone who knew him knows he wasn’t exactly the handyman of the family—but he absolutely made the best sandwiches!

Dan had an adventurous spirit, particularly in his younger years. He traveled across the country by motorcycle, sometimes with friends and sometimes on his own. His life took him from Ohio to Las Vegas, Nevada, Satellite Beach, Florida, and back again, with chapters in Columbus and Kent along the way. He collected stories, friendships, unusual treasures and plenty of opinions everywhere he went.

More than anything, Dan loved his family. He loved watching his grandsons Ollie and Teddy grow, sharing meals, telling stories, laughing, and simply having everyone together. He will be missed in all of those ordinary places where his presence was deeply woven into our lives.

A private memorial service will be held for the family. A celebration of Dan’s life will also be held at 497 Middlebury Road Kent Ohio at the Old Jail House in Fred Fuller Park on September 22 from 5pm to 830pm. In lieu of flowers , donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in Dan's name.
