David Paul Hornsby, 63, affectionately known as “Bucco” of Ravenna, Ohio passed away peacefully surrounded by his siblings on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at UH Portage Medical Center in Ravenna. Bucco was born August 16, 1961, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio to Ronald J. and Mary C. (Angell) Hornsby. David graduated from Happy Day School and worked at Portage Industries prior to enjoying an early retirement. Bucco was an active member of the MR/DD community and enjoyed bowling, participating in The Special Olympics, music and social events. Bucco had a passion for Super Heroes and Batman, in particular, was larger than life to him! Bucco was a little guy with a BIG personality who was loved by all who met him. Bucco is survived by his siblings Ronald Hornsby, Jr. (Janet), Janice Swan (Scott), and Tom Hornsby (Shirley), sister-in-law Corky Hornsby, Uncle Rudy Angell (Ken), Aunt Lil Barish (Ken), Aunt Patti Angell, and many close cousins, nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ted and Tim Hornsby and Uncle Ray Angell. The family would like to thank Independence for their many years of tremendous and outstanding support and care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Independence of Portage County Inc. at 575 East Lake St. Ravenna, OH 44266. Calling hours will be from 11 AM until time of funeral service at 1 PM Monday, March 24, 2025 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel.
