David B. Morris

Sgt. David B. Morris 85 of Ravenna passed away Monday, April 26, 2021 at UH Portage Medical Center in Ravenna. He was born January 21, 1936 in Ravenna to William C. and Dorothy (Elgin) Morris. David was a US Navy veteran. He retired from the Ravenna Police Department, worked as a bailiff for the Portage County Courthouse and was currently on the Veterans Commission Board. He was a member of the FOP Lodge #70, Ravenna VFW # 1055 and was a member and current canteen manager for the Ravenna American Legion #331.  He enjoyed fishing in Canada, watching his favorite Ohio sports teams especially the Cleveland Browns, and enjoyed spending time at the American Legion, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife of 59 years Betty (Dillon), daughters Kathy (Gary) Griffith and Carol (Jeff) Whetsel, grandchildren Derek McIntyre and Mitchell Whetsel and great grandchildren Hayden McIntyre and Derek McIntyre. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Gail Hentz, brother in law Tom Hentz and nephew Tommy "T" Hentz. Memorial calling hours will be held from 10 AM until time of memorial service at 12 PM on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel.
