David E. Sanker 59 born in Altoona, PA, of Holland Twp., NJ passed away surrounded by family on October 10, 2016. A graduate of St. Francis University in Loretto, PA, he was a teacher, a man of many skills and an airline pilot for 36 years with three airlines, most recently as a Captain for United Airlines. A devoted husband, who always supported his wife's endeavors, he loved his family first. David also enjoyed travel and the stars in the sky. David loved playing with his grandchildren and helping his father as well as his son building and do projects around the house. He never missed a pole vault practice and gladly played the part of Santa at Christmas.Born to Lois R. Sanker and Walter Z. Sanker of Altoona, PA. Survived by his wife, Patti Sanker (Briskar), his children Mary Sanker, Paul Sanker and wife Amy Sanker (Vincent) as well as two grandchildren and four brothers and two sisters. In addition, David is survived by many in-laws as well as nieces and nephews. He will be eternally missed. Calling hours will be from 6 - 9 PM Friday, October 14, 2016 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home, 141 N. Meridian Street, Ravenna, OH 44266. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Saturday, October 15, 2016 at St. Peter of the Field Church, 3847 Old Forge Road, Rootstown, Ohio 44272. Father David Misbrener will officiate. Private burial will be in Calavary Cemetery in Altoona. PA.
