David Phillip Santner passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and loved ones on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025 at the age of 73.
David was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1951 to Steve and Emily Santner. He attended Valley Forge High School, graduating in 1969. In his 20s, he worked as a hired hand for the Marine Mariners before becoming a manager at a Sheraton hotel where he met his former wife and mother to his children, Nancy Caldwell. He worked in hotel management and as a bartender at the Renaissance Hotel in Cleveland, Ohio for 25 years before retiring in 2018.
David had a lifelong love of animals and being outside on the water that he passed on to his two children, Steven and Janelle. He had an easy going warmth that made everyone around him feel welcome and at ease. He was always willing to help his friends, selflessly offering his time and never taking anything too seriously.
He had an uncanny ability to discover and appreciate the value of unexpected or overlooked people, places, and things. his restless, creative spirit meant he was always searching for new experiences and making new friends no matter where he went.
He is survived by his son Steven, his daughter Janelle and her husband Chris, his siblings Jean Grisik and her husband John, Marilyn Phillips and her husband Edward, Elizabeth Hubler and her husband Tom, good friend Grant and more friends than could ever be listed.
A celebration of life service will be held on May 10th , 1-4pm at Eagles Club 812 Cleveland Rd, Ravenna, OH 44266 that will be open to the public.
