Denise R. Isackila

Denise R. Isackila, 68, of Ravenna, passed away Thursday June19, 2025 following a long illness.  She passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side.  Being a lifelong Ravenna resident, she was born August 2, 1956 in Ravenna, Ohio to Robert and Glenda (Hassler) Enders.  She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for several years and then received her Bachelors of Nursing Science from Kent State University School of Nursing in 1988.  Her interest in Nursing started at age 16 when she traveled to Central America with Amigos Des Las Americas to treat underserved children.  She returned from that trip with dysentery but she persevered in her career and graduated from the Akron School of Practical Nursing in 1975. In her career, she worked at Jane Francis Nursing Home, Edwin Shaw Hospital, Hattie Larhlam Foundation, and other organizations.  For the last 15 years of her career, she worked as a Nursing Educator and acting Director of Northcoast Medical Training Academy in Kent, OH. She was a member of the Ravenna First Congregational Church.  Her father Robert preceded her in death and she is survived by her mother Glenda Enders, her husband of 45 years Raymond E. Isackila whom she married June 26, 1980, her daughters Sarah (David) Isackila-Vega, Katie Isackila, Betsy (Kyle) Reese, her  grandchildren Alexander White, Molly Reese and siblings Wayne Enders and Kathy Schumaucher. She was deeply loved by all who knew her.  She was an outstanding role model for her three daughters as a strong and independent woman. She will be greatly missed by her entire family, especially her two grandchildren who were the light of her life in recent years.  In honoring her requests, cremation has taken place and memorial calling hours will be Tuesday June 24, 2025 from 5 PM until time of the memorial services at 6 PM at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel.  Inurnment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery at a later date.  Please visit www.sscfuneralhomes.com to offer a condolence, share a memory or light a candle.
