Donald Gene Cherry 81 of Ravenna passed away Friday, June 16, 2017. He was born on February 17, 1936 in Ravenna to Robert Sr. and Gladys (Engelhart) Cherry. After the passing of his mother Gladys when he was 5 years old, he was raised by his father Robert and Lucille B. Cherry. Don graduated from Ravenna Township School in 1954 and served in the US Army in Germany for 3 years. He retired in 1994 from Ohio Bell/Ameritech after 37 years of service. Survivors include his wife of 56 years Connie (Copac) Cherry, daughters DeNiece Cherry, Darlene (Andy) Selesnik and Barbara(Sam) Grispino, grandson Dominic Grispino, brother Robert (Joyce) Cherry, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jack Cherry. Memorial calling hours will be from 12:30 pm until time of memorial service at 2:00 pm on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at the First Congregational Church in Ravenna. Reverend Jerry Kruse will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to the First Congregational Church, 266 South Chestnut St., Ravenna, OH 44266 or the charity of the donors choice.
