Rev. Donald Lee DeCoursey went home to the Lord on March 30, 2013. He was born June 16, 1933 in Herrin, IL to Lionel and Margaret (Mapes)DeCoursey. He lived in Shalersville for over 41 years. He had a list of hobbies a mile long, including photography, shooting, banjos, bluegrass music, woodcarving, and preaching. Don never met a stranger, and was always willing to help a friend in need. His love for his family and friends was immense, but his love for Jesus was even greater. He was a United States Air Force, Korean War, Veteran, and owned Don's Camera & Repair for many years. He is survived by his wife, Claudia (Strah) DeCoursey, of more than 57 years, six children: Donald, Jr. (Terri) of Eaton, IN, Mavis (Roger) Howell of Euless, TX, Claudette (Roger) McCullough of Parma, Christie (Scott) Sullivan of Shalersville, Michelle (Darrell) Coe of Spartanburg, SC, Suzette (Jerry) Tayerle of Mantua. He was a grandfather of 17, and great-grandfather of 17 with one on the way. Also surviving are his siblings, Pete DeCoursey of FL, Debbie Dixon of MO, and Tony Eovaldi of IL, and special pals, Puggles, Casper, and Chico. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Roy Thetford, sister, Mitzi Smith, and great-grandson, Austin. A very special Thank You goes out to Erin and Claudine of Cleveland Clinic Hospice for their caring and support. Thank You for making him smile one last time. Calling hours will be held from 5 - 8 PM Wednesday, April 3, 2013 and from 10:00 AM till time of the service at 11:00 AM at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home, 9781 Page Road Streetsboro. Pastor Nathan Doyle will be officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery Mantua, Ohio. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the family.
