Donald W Doak

Donald W. Doak 79 of Ravenna passed away Saturday January 21, 2012 at Longmeadow  Care Center in Ravenna, Ohio.  He was born March 28, 1932 in Ravenna, Ohio to the late Raymond and Carrie (Chaplain) Doak.  Mr. Doak has been a life long Ravenna resident and was a veteran of the US Navy serving in Korea.  Mr. Doak has worked in law enforcement for over 50 years, working for the Hudson Police Department, the General Tire Police in Akron and for the Portage County Sheriff's Department where he  retired in 2008 as the chief of detectives.  Survivors include his son Jeff Doak of Phoenix, AZ, his brother Robert Doak of Ravenna, several nieces and nephews and his close friend Rachel Spence.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Harriet in July of 2007, his brothers Ed and Richard Doak and his sister Mary McDaniel.  Calling hours will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Monday January 23, 2012 at Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel where funeral services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday January 24, 2012 with his nephew Rev.
