Donald Pownall

Donald "Duckie" Pownall 71 of Akron passed away Thursday November 25, 2010 at his residence.  He was born October 8, 1939 in Akron, Ohio to the late Kenneth and Elizabeth (Coghan) Pownall.  Mr. Pownall has lived in Akron the past 5 years and was formerly of Texas, he had worked as a security guard, umpired youth baseball and softball games in Akron, enjoyed  bingo and watching nascar.  He was a veteran of the US Navy.  Survivors include his wife of 39 years Karen (Calaway) Pownall, sons Dale (Joy) Slider and Billy (Teri) Slider both of Houston, TX, Michael Pownall of Akron, daughters Kelly (Milan) Burton of Ravenna, Terry (Ron) Boyd, Donna Pownall, Sherrie Thompson all of Akron, 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by brothers and sisters Dane, Artie, Donna, Char, Rosalie, Kenny and Dickie.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by Barbara Jean and Jerry.  Calling hours will be 1-4 PM Sunday November 28, 2010 at the Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel where funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday November 29, 2010 with Pastor David Ballert Officiating.  Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family care of Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Homes 141 N.
