Donald E. Spriggel

Donald E. Spriggel 82 of Rootstown passed away Wednesday January 11, 2017 at UH Portage Medical Center in Ravenna.  He was born November 5, 1934 in Akron to the late Donald and Elizabeth (Looser) Spriggel.  Don has lived in Rootstown since 1987 and was a self employed truck driver and a former owner of the New Milford Cafe.  He was a veteran of the US Navy, a member of the Ravenna American Legion Post 331, the Ravenna VFW Post 1055 and the Ravenna Moose.  Survivors include his wife Vicky (Krantz) Spriggel whom he married in 1990, his children Donald Leroy Spriggel, JoDeen Cantrell, Terry Wolf, Denise Wiesemann, Debbie Mook, Tracy Vargo, Susan Dietz and Angie Snider, as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren  and  Critter.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Donna Schlarb and the mother of his children Phyllis Spriggel.  At Don's request cremation has taken place.  Military Honors will be 5:00 PM Saturday January 21, 2017 at the Ravenna VFW Post 1055 on New Milford Road where immediately following there will be a "Grumpy Old Man Crockpot Dinner" to celebrate his life.  Condolences and memories of Don may shared with the family at www.sscfuneralhomes.com.
