Doris Marie (Bollinger) Skonieczny-Vanlander

Doris Marie Vanlander (Skonieczny), 90 of Aurora, Ohio passed away peacefully Saturday July 8, 2023 at the Avenue’s at Macedonia.  Doris was born on April 23, 1933 in Ravenna, Ohio to the late Walter and Mabel (Latourneau) Bollinger.  Doris lived her childhood and teenage years in Detroit, Michigan where she was raised by Vincent and Marie Kent.  Doris and her family moved to Northeastern Ohio in 1961 and spent 30 years in Streetsboro where her nine children all graduated High School.  Doris spent 25 wonderful years of retirement in Hobe Sound Florida where she enjoyed going to the beach, fishing and gardening.   Doris moved back to Ohio to spend time with her family her final 2.5 years.   Doris held many positions and jobs over her lifetime most notably retiring as the Park Manager from the Camelot Village in Streetsboro. She also had worked at Bird Electronics, Keithley Instruments and Matrix Essentials.  Doris was a former member of St. Joan of Arc Church in Streetsboro.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her second husband George Vanlander and siblings Walter, Mary Jane, Raymond, Carol, Louis and Robert.  Survivors include her children Edward (Laura) Skonieczny, Leonard (Linda) Skonieczny, Jr.,  Donald (Jill) Skonieczny, Joseph (Barbara) Skonieczny, Michele Baker, Stephen (Terry) Skonieczny, Mark (Darla) Skonieczny, Doris (Jeffrey) Miller, Jeffrey (Mary) Skonieczny, 34 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and sisters Evelyn Bollinger and Shirley Haney.  In honoring her request, cremation has taken place, a private family memorial mass will take place at St. Joan of Arc Church Streetsboro, Ohio.  Condolences and memories of Doris may be shared with her family at www.sscfuneralhomes.com.
