Doris J. (Kissel) Smith

Doris J. Smith 87 of Rootstown died Saturday, March 21, 2015. She was born June 12, 1927 in Rootstown to Joseph and Gertrude (Keller) Kissel. Doris was a member of the Community Bible Church in Rootstown, enjoyed gardening, walking, picking berries, making pies and worked as a cook at Calvary Temple in South Bend, IN. Survivors include her daughters JoAnn Roswell of Ravenna and Christine (James) Black of Rootstown, sons Ronald (Mary) Smith and Michael (Victoria) Smith both of South Bend, IN, 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, sisters Audrey Smith of Rootstown, Birdella McHenry and Arlene Seely both od CA, Martha Jane Smith of Rootstown, Donna Hughes of Streetsboro and Maxine Saltsman of Atwater and a brother Paul Kissel of Orrville, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter in 2013, sons Roger and Fred Smith and a brother LaVern Kissel. Calling hours will be from 2 - 4 PM and 6 PM until time of service at 7 PM Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. Pastor Scott Hindel will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date in Grandview Memorial Park in Ravenna. The family request memorials to the Alzheimer's Unit at Maplewood Care Center.
