Dwight E. Hall, 88, of Newbury, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at Chardon Woods Facility in Chardon. He was born February 18, 1938 in Mount Vernon, Ohio to the late Earnest and Eva (Blair) Hall. Dwight lived in Newbury for the past 50 years with his beloved wife. Dwight had a strong work ethic throughout his life. He worked at the Chagrin Falls Post Office, where he met his wife, and also held positions at Chagrin Hardware and Reed-Nichols Funeral Home. He concluded his long career at Stock Equipment in Bainbridge, retiring in March 2022 at the age of 84. Dwight was a quiet man who deeply loved his family and cherished the time he spent with them. He enjoyed a variety of pastimes, including playing volleyball and softball in his younger years. He was an avid golfer, participating in the Stock League and making it a tradition to golf each year in the Ravenna Gridiron Golf Outing. He also enjoyed fishing, as well as playing cards and games with his family. He and his wife shared many special memories through their travels, including a trip to Hawaii to celebrate their 49th wedding anniversary. Throughout his life, he created lasting memories with all of his daughters—Candy, Elaine, Jodi, and Tricia—whether it was earlier trips to his grandmother’s fishing camp, camping together in Apple Valley, or later adventures across the country, including a three-week journey across the United States with his wife and Tricia. He also cherished special vacations spent with his son-in-law and grandchildren. One of his daughters’ most treasured memories was a Father’s Day fishing trip in 2000, a simple but meaningful time together that reflected how much he loved being with his family. He also held close the many trips spent with loved ones at his uncle’s lake house in Michigan, where time together meant everything. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jodi Stuntz; grandsons, Joshua Whaley and Jeff Stoneman; and siblings, Tom Hall and Beverly McElravy. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Christie J. (Trace) Hall, whom he married July 29, 1967; his daughters, Candy Whaley, Elaine Stoneman, and Tricia (Jim) Lunardi; his sister, Barbara Vopicka; his grandchildren, Jessica Szoka, Jen Fatica, Jason Stuntz, Damen Stuntz, Tyler Rodabough, Parker Rodabough, AJ Lunardi, Emma Lunardi, and Mia Lunardi; and his great-grandchildren, Isaac, Izabel, and Lucas Szoka; Rosalie, Ariana, and Rocco Fatica; Masen Stuntz; and Gavin Rodabough, along with several nieces and nephews. In honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial calling hours will be held Saturday, June 13, 2026 from 2 to 4 PM, with a memorial service to follow at 4 PM, at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes, Ravenna Chapel.
