Earl L. Lovejoy “The Duke”, 78, of Ravenna, was surrounded by his family when he went home to be with the Lord on Saturday March 28, 2026 at the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. On September 3, 1947, Earl was born in Montgomery West Virginia, (Powellton Hollow) to the late Harry and Emogene (Williams) Lovejoy. Earl has lived in Ravenna most of his life and was a retired laborer. He was a Vietnam Veteran of the US Army serving as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life Gloria J. "GoGo" Lovejoy on March 26, 2013, his daughter Tiffiany Lovejoy, brother Denver and his sister-in-law Sue and brother Howell Lovejoy. Survivors include his children Sonja Witchey, Tasha (Josh) Mugrage, Earl Lovejoy II, Shane (Tina) Lovejoy, Jason (Kym) Lovejoy, his grandchildren Erika, Lee, Brayton, Brogan, Brooke, Jay, Tyler, Colby, Jalynn, Paisley, Kinslee, Craigy, Kendrah, his great grandchildren Mason, Teegan, Colt, Nico, Daxton, Adaline, Hayes, Cruz, brothers Roger and Mathew Lovejoy, and his niece and nephews Denny, Michael and Barbara, who were raised alongside his children and held a special place in his heart along with many more nieces and nephews. Earl had a lifelong passion for deer hunting and also loved going to watch dirt track sprint car racing. The love he had for his family was unmeasurable. He Will be greatly missed my many nieces, nephews, cousins. Calling hours will be Friday April 3, 2026 from 5 to 8 PM at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel where funeral services will be 11:00 Am Saturday April 4, 2026. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery Ravenna, Ohio. The family would especially like to thank the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center for all the years of care and compassion.
