Earl R. Wiggins, 82, of Ravenna, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Robinson Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 17, 1931 in Clinton, North Carolina to the late Joseph and Janie (Kornegay) Wiggins. Earl was a member of the Black Horse Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. He was a machinist for Gougler Industries as well as a crossing guard for Ravenna City Schools and he also delivered pharmaceuticals for Triangle Pharmacy. Earl is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Patricia (Sapp) Wiggins of Ravenna; daughter, Tawnia (Wiggins) Taylor-Bowen of Canton; three granddaughters, Nicole, Courtney, and Lindsay Taylor; two great-grandsons, Jaidyn and Dominic Taylor; sisters, Janie (Eathel) Dean of Ravenna, Brenda (Rick) Davis of North Carolina, and Darlene (Ronnie) Pate of North Carolina; brothers, Keith (Debbie) Wiggins of North Carolina and Dale (Linda) Wiggins of North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law. In addition to his parents Earl was preceded in death by his step-mother, who raised him after his birth mother passed, Ollie (Cashwell) Wiggins;stillborn daughter, Ricki Anne Wiggins; and brothers, Edward and Earl Ray Wiggins. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 3 until the 6PM service at the Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel. Interment will be held on Friday at 11AM at Grandview Memorial Park.
