Pastor Earnest L. Mounts went home to be with the Lord on Saturday January 4, 2014 at his home in Ravenna, surrounded by his wife Brenda and lots of family members, from cancer that he battled for 3 months. He was born October 24, 1949 in Hurley, VA to Frank and Worthy (Blankenship) Mounts. Earnest was the founder and pastor of God's Church of Ravenna since 1981. He loved his wife, three little dogs, family, church family and especially young people. He enjoyed playing softball, basketball and going out to eat for the fellowship with other people. The Church was his life, preaching, singing and winning souls for Christ. Survivors include his wife of 25 years Brenda (Moore), daughters Tammy Mounts of Hudson, Sherri Keller of Atwater, and Sonia Jones of Haleyville, AL, sons Frankie Dewayne Mounts of Ravenna, and James Dalton of Guin, AL, 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, sisters Rev. Vicie (Harry) Mostella and Janice (Larry) Brown both of Ravenna and brothers James (Linda) Mounts of Cedar Bluff, VA, Jason (Janet) Mounts of Ravenna, Richard (Sandy) Mounts of Atwater and Danny (Norma) Mounts of Ravenna. Calling hours will be from 11 AM to time of service at 1 PM Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel with Reverend Joe Dearry officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to the American Cancer Society. The family wishes to express their sincere Thanks to Robinson Hospice and all the doctors and nurses at Akron City Hospital that cared for Pastor Earnie during his illness.
