Eddy L. Long 79 of Mantua died Saturday, March 25, 2017. He was born May 9, 1937 in New Castle, VA to the late Roby C. and Elsie (Riddle) Long. Mr. Long was a US Navy veteran and had worked construction for Donley Construction in Cleveland and was a member of Local 310 and Local 404 Concrete Masons. He and his wife Phyllis were foster parents to 84 foster children. Survivors include his wife of 48 years Phyllis (Wooten) Long, children Vanessa (Ron) Lucas, Tina Long and Shannon English Long, grandchildren Rodney (Chelsea Varga) Lucas, Ryan Lucas, Amber (Chad) Grantham and Angel (John) Long-Esposito, great grandchildren Hunter Grantham and Rylie Lucas and brothers Ronnie and Max Long. Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 PM Friday, March 31, 2017 and from 10 am until time of funeral service at 11 AM Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. Pastor Michael Visniesky will officiate. Burial will follow in Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to UH Hospice, 6847 N. Chestnut Street, Ravenna, Ohio 44266.
