Edward E. Sexton 81 of Streetsboro passed away August 10, 2013 at Robinson Memorial Hospital. He was born February 16, 1932 in Cunard, WV to the late Edward Vincent and Nellie Martha (Chapman) Sexton. He served in the US Army for 16 years eight enlisted & 8 as an officer. Saw combat in Korea & in Viet Nam. His highest rank held was Captain. Ed worked as an electrician out of IBEW local 71 in Columbus for many years. He last worked as an electrician at Geauga Lake in Aurora where he retired in February 1995. He was a member of Streetsboro Church of God (Encounter) where he served as an usher, then head usher. Also served on the pastor's council and on the finance committee. Active in men's ministry and used his work skills to contribute to the up keep of the church building. Recently he was a member of Discover Life Church in Akron. Ed was a member of the Streetsboro American Legion and VFW. He is survived by his loving wife Phyllis Jean (Harris) Sexton whom he married in 1954, daughter, Shannon (Ronald) Estes of Streetsboro, sons, Terry (Cindy) Sexton of Mantua, Dale (Melissa) Sexton of Albany, IN, Dana Sexton (Tammy Kent fiancee) of New Hampshire, Trevor (Susan) Sexton of Howell, MI, sisters, Janet (Miles) Davis of Cuyahoga Falls, Jean (John) McClung of Hudson, Brenda (Ernie) McGee of Hudson, Martha (Larry) Sarver of NV, brothers, Donald (Lynn) Sexton of Strongsville, Jack Sexton of Rootstown, Randy Sexton of Cuyahoga Falls, Gary (Jeanne) Sexton of Mogadore, 11 grandchildren, Heather (Theo) Cebulla, Amy (Matt) Case, Angela (Matt) Ritchey, Samuel (Meggie) Sexton, Samantha Bounds, Kathryn Sexton, Jacob Sexton, Drew Sexton, Kiera Sexton, Savanna Estes, Elijah Estes, 9 great grandchildren, Mason, Hallie, Kelsey, Brady, Tyler, Dylan, Jaxon, Darius, Kendra and Jim Kuchta of Streetsboro, best friend and caregiver . Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Sexton, and sister in law, Peggy Sexton. We would like to express our appreciation to Cambridge home health aides who cared for him these last years, the Hospice team of RMH who cared for him during his last days and the VA medical teams who have cared for him over the years. Calling Hours will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday, August 16, 2013 at the Encounter Church (formerly Streetsboro Church of God) 9267 St, Rt, 43 Streetsboro, OH 44241, where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 17, 2013 with Rev. Ronald Estes Jr., and Rev. John McClung Jr. officiating. Entombment will be in Grandview Memorial Park Ravenna following the service.
