Elaine Joan O’Dor (Friedl) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Cleveland Clinic on February 27, 2014. She was born the only child to Louise and Arnold Friedl Oct 11,1931 in Lorain, Ohio. In her “hey days”, she enjoyed socializing and traveling with her tall friends from the Skyscraper Club of Cleveland (affiliate of the American Association of Tall Clubs International), She had fond memories and made lifelong friends with this group. She married Donald O’Dor of Amherst, Ohio on Nov 25, 1961 at St. Joseph Church in Lorain. Work brought the O’Dors to Ravenna in 1967. Elaine is survived by her husband Donald, son Douglas, his wife Michelle and her pride and joy granddaughter Alexandra, all of Ravenna. Also, her faithful daughter and advocate Linda O’Dor of Columbus. She also leaves many great friends and family in Ravenna, Lorain and the Cleveland area. Special Uncle Bill Ekey of Parma and Cousin Nancy Goldstein of California. Elaine was a loving wife and mother and enjoyed spending time with her family and becoming a perfect homemaker. She took pride in making the holidays special with seasonal decorations and food. She was employed as a Dental Assistant in her younger years in Lorain and later as a “lunch lady” for 19 years with the Ravenna Schools. Elaine and Don enjoyed traveling after retirement and hitting the casinos for some slot machine play..."Cha-ching"! She made great friends with the “Swim group” from Robinson Memorial Hospital. Calling hours will be from 4-6 PM on Wednesday March 5, 2014 at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna chapel and on Thursday March 6, 2014 from 10:00 AM until time of funeral services at 11:00 AM with Father William Kraynak officiating.
