Elizabeth Ann "Liz" (Rhinehart) Hayes

Elizabeth Ann "Liz" (Rhinehart) Hayes, 86. of Ravenna passed away peacefully at Longmeadow Care Center with her family at her side.  She was born September 4, 1925 in Copley, Ohio to the late Ralph and Cora (Barker) Rhinehart.  She worked as a nurse all of her life at various nursing homes including the Portage County Nursing  Home, Jane Francis (Altercare) and Home Healthcare.  Liz was a diehard Cleveland Indians  fan, never missing a game.  She was a friend to everyone, never met a stranger and will be missed by all who knew her.  She is survived by her loving daughters  Margaret Pontius , Norma (Bob) Magley, Judy (Ben) Dusek, grandchildren  Keith (Joanne) Magley, Chad (Renee) Pontius, Amanda Pontius, Brett (Sarah) Magley, great grandchildren Paige and Hailey Pontius, Simon, Stella and Elliot Magley.  Survivors also include her brothers Ralph (Margaret) Rhinehart, Richard Rhinehart, sister Arlene Smith and sister in law Gladys Rhinehart.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands Glenn Norma Hawley in 1952, Curtis J, Hayes, Jr. in 1987, grandson Curtis Dusek, her brothers Fred and Irvin Rhinehart and sisters  Barbara Hayes, Edna Hayes and Helen Kunar.  Calling hours will be  11:00 AM Monday July 9, 2012 until time of funeral services at 1:00 PM with Rev. Chuck Rhinehart officiating at the Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel.  Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery Ravenna, Ohio.  The family would  especially like to thank the staff at Longmeadow Care Center for their wonderful, loving care they gave our mother during her stay at the nursing home.   The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Longmeadow Care Center Activities Director Carrie Moss.  Condolences may be expressed  for the family at www.sscfuneralhomes.com.
