Ellen A (Hites) Post

Ellen A. Post, 87, passed away peacefully on December 18th at the Hospice of the Western Reserve in Cleveland. Born at home in Cuyahoga Falls on February 4th, 1934, she was a lifelong resident of Northeast Ohio. A majorette at Stow High School, she went on to marry her late husband Raymond Post in 1951 and started a family. Eventually settling in Streetsboro, she touched generations of family and friends with her kindness and love. Throughout her life, she maintained a tremendous love for animals. She had a soft spot in her heart for basset hounds, and over the years was probably responsible for feeding every bird and squirrel in Ohio. Friends and family have fond memories of hand-feeding the occasional raccoon that would wander into her kitchen for a snack. She also holds what her family firmly believes to be a state record, having driven a car on Ohio roads for 71 years without a single ticket or accident. She is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Raymond R. Post, and survived by their four children, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
