Elta Armstrong 85 of Shalersville, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at The Woodlands at Robinson with her loving husband of almost 63 and a half years right by her side. Though she was short in stature in her later years, she will always stand tall in our hearts. Nicknamed "T-Girl" at an early age by an uncle, she would cry because she thought she was named after a chewing gum. "Honey, I didn't name you after a chewing gum, I named you after Teaberry, Kentucky." Mom, you will always be a sweet girl to us. In her youth Elta played mandolin and her brother Estill played guitar. Amos met Elta in October of 1948 and thry were married on March 24, 1949. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, especially dresses for foot-high dolls, gardening and canning vegatables. She is survived by her beloved husband Amos and sons Allan, Richard and Robert all at home. Surviving also are brothers Cobert (Jeanette) Bates and Odenis Bates both of Hindman, KY and sisters Dalma Vaughn of Dayton, OH and Elsie (Bill) Jones of Brookville, OH and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Effie Isaacs, and brothers Glen, Estill, Aster Ray, McKinley and Claude.
