Ernest J. Mauer

Ernest J. Mauer, 84 of Aurora passed away  at his home on Tuesday February 24, 2015.  He was born March 9, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Michael and Josephine (Godec) Mauer.  Mr. Mauer has lived in Aurora since  1957 and had worked for Local 17 as a Iron Worker.  He was a veteran of the US Army serving his country during the Korean War.  He was a member of the Streetsboro Eagles and the Aurora VFW Post 2629.  Survivors include his children Elaine Annis of Ravenna, Gary Mauer of Aurora, Michael (Lynn) Mauer of Houston, Texas, his grandchildren Chris, Josh, Nicole, Sara, Lisa, Kylie, Richard, Julia and Rebecca,  16 great grandchildren and four great great  grandchildren.  Also surviving  are his siblings Patricia Schaab and Lawrence Mauer.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Rosemary on January 8, 2009, his great grandson Thomas Harman and his siblings Josephine Valich and Mike Mauer.  Calling hours will be 2-5 PM Saturday February 28, 2015 at the Shorts  Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes  Streetsboro Chapel.  Aurora VFW Post 2629 will have ritual services at 4:00 PM and Streetsboro Eagles services will be at 5:00 PM with Funeral services to follow.  Burial will take place at a later date in Aurora City Cemetery.  Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.sscfuneralhomes.com.
