Eva D. (Moore) Gerren

Eva Dorett Gerren, 101, of Rootstown passed away Friday, April 26, 2024. She was born on December 9, 1922 in Akron to her late parents Guy W. Moore, Sr., and Faye (Stephens) Moore. Dorett, as she preferred to be called, lived in Akron until her sophomore year (1937) of high school when her family moved to Rootstown. She began her career at General Tire in the print shop. Dorett took time off to raise two daughters before taking a job at Robinson Memorial Hospital from 1963 to 1977, where she was head of the laundry department.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Wallace Gerren, her daughter Sharon M. Waesch, and siblings Mildred Marshall, Guy Moore, Jr., and Joan North. Dorett is survived by her daughter, Rita Gerren-Mottern; son-in-law, Norman Waesch; brother, Ronald Moore; and grandchildren, Keith (Amanda) Waesch and Jodi (Marty) Illner. She had five great grandchildren: Jenna, Jackson, Nathan, Ryan Lynn and Gerren. Dorett enjoyed her family, traveling, bowling at Twin Star Lanes and played golf at Chestnut Hill and Kent State into her 90s. She had a passion for playing cards throughout her life and did so with family and friends until her passing. In honor of her request, cremation has taken place. Friends and family will be received on Saturday, June 1, at 11:00 a.m. until the memorial service at 12:00 p.m. at Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home in Ravenna, with Tom Wilson officiating.
