Frances E Swaney

Frances E. Swaney, 82, of Ravenna, passed away on Tuesday May 12, 2026 at her home, surrounded by her family. Being a lifelong Ravenna resident, she was born in Ravenna to the late Claude W. and Marjorie (Valarinos) Shaffer on April 24, 1944. She retired from Kent City Schools where she worked as a custodian and was a member of the New Apostolic Church in Stow. She enjoyed gardening and cooking and was very proud to let everyone know that she had won best of show for a flower arrangement for the Portage County Fair. Her most cherished thing on life was spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson Nick Medina and siblings Claudia, Bernie and Charlie Shaffer. Survivors include her husband of 52 years Jerry A. Swaney whom she married February 16, 1974, her sister Faye Sparks children Susan (Bernard) Gilham-Callesen, Rebecca (John) Baker, Debbie (Tony) Palmisano, Michelle (Leo) Eboch, her grandchildren Jeffrey (Amy), Christopher ,Emily (Deven), Justin, Jonathan, Zachary (Megan), Brandon (Arden), Melissa (Brad), Montessia (Mike), Michael (Lindsey), Wesley (Alicia), 15 great grandchildren and nieces Amanda Turner, Annette McMullen and Kim Kost.
