F. David Common

Francis David Common, 76 of Rootstown passed away  Monday January 22, 2018 at his home with his family by his side.  He was born April 13, 1941 in Alliance, Ohio to the late Nicholas and Marie (Ierovante) Common.  Mr. Common has lived in Rootstown most of his life and was formerly of Alliance, Ohio.   He retired from Altercare of Brimfield and had worked in construction and General Tire in Akron.  He was a 1959 graduate from  Southeast High School and was a veteran of the US Navy serving on the USS Mauna Kea during the Vietnam War.  Mr. Common  was the co-owner  of Common-Moore Racing Stables where he bred  and raced Standard Bred Horses.   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Mark T. Common, Anita and her husband Russell Wyles and his sister in law Gene Moore and father in law Guy W. Moore, Jr.  Survivors include his wife Judy (Moore) Common whom he married April 30, 1966, his children Amy (Scott) St. John, Derek (Melissa Freedson) Common, his grandchildren Natalie St. John, Nicholas Common, Zachary Common,  his sister Kathi (Bob) Frisina, his mother in law Isabel Moore, his  sister in law Florence Common, brother in laws David Moore, Greg (Brenda) Moore and numerous nieces and nephews.  Calling hours will be from 10:00 AM until time of funeral services at 11:00 AM on Thursday January 25, 2018 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel with Father William Kraynak Officiating.  Burial will follow in Homeland Cemetery Rootstown, Ohio.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rootstown Fire Department 4152 Tallmadge Rd.
