Francis M (Duke) Glasgow

Francis M. "Duke" Glasgow 97 of Rootstown passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at the Gardens of Western Reserve at Cuyahoga Falls.  He was born December 22, 1913 in Akron to the late John W. and Neva (Brown) Glasgow.  Duke worked for  Firestone where he retired in 1976.  He was a member, certified Lay Speaker, and chairman of various committees at Faith United Methodist Church in Brimfield. He also was Akron District Lay Leader, East OH conference Lay Leader, Lay Member to East OH Annual Conference 40 + years, Lay Delegate to numerous General & Jurisdictional Conferences of The UMC, Jurisdictional Conference Committee Member, former member of Board of Trustees for Copeland Oaks Retirement Community in Sebring, OH.  Francis was also a member of the Blue Lodge #187, F&AM Rockton #316, Olive Lodge both of Kent, Cuyahoga Falls Chapter #225, Akron Council #80, Cuyahoga Falls Commandry, Tadmor Shrine, where he was Chaplain for 10 years.  Member of Valley of Akron, Scottish Rite. Survivors include his daughters, Patricia Anne (Dr. Rex) Dinsmore of Tallmadge, Sandra Jean (Philip) Robinson of Akron, grandchildren, David Dinsmore, Michael Dinsmore, Lynda Gallagher, great grandchildren, Brendan Gallagher, and Tyler Gallagher. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wives, Mabel (Felton) Glasgow, Ethel (Basse) Glasgow, Gladys (Clapp) Reynolds-Glasgow, sisters, Geraldine Glasgow, Fern Dunlap, brother, Gerald H. Glasgow. Calling Hours will be held from 2 - 6 PM Sunday, May 15, 2011 at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel.  Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, May 16, 2011 at the Faith United Methodist Church, 1235 Tallmadge Road Brimfield, OH 44240 with Rev. Curt Bissell officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park Ravenna, following the service.
