Francis J. "Frank" Wunderle, Sr, 78 of Ravenna passed away Thursday December 22, 2011 at Robinson Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. He was born June 27, 1933 in Kent, Ohio to the late Carl V. Sr. and Helen (McManamon) Wunderle. Frank has lived in Ravenna since 1962 and was formerly of Kent, he was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Ravenna and the Kent American Legion. He retired from Ohio Bell where he worked as an assistant manager and had worked as a part time fire fighter for the Ravenna Fire Department. Frank really enjoyed attending all his grandchildren's events, fishing and golfing, which is why he thoroughly enjoyed working as a starter for the Kent State Golf Course. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving in the Korean War. Frank is survived by his children Frank, Jr., Amy (George) Kotrick and Michael (Dawn) all of Ravenna. Survivors also include his grandchildren Nicholas, Christopher, Anna, Sara, Meagan, Abby, Amanda, Mikey , his brother Carl Wunderle, Jr. of Port Clinton and his special companion Dottie Mekeel of Akron, New York. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy in May of 2006, brother John and sister Rosemary Sessions. Friends may call on Tuesday December 27, 2011 from 5-8 PM at Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Wednesday December 28, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Church in Ravenna with burial to follow in Standing Rock Cemetery Kent, Ohio.
