Franklin John Mecone

Franklin John Mecone, Sr., 77, of Athens, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2015. Mr. Mecone enjoyed a varied career which included being a Farm Bureau insurance agent and operating a mobile home park. His hobbies included bowling at Showtime Bowling, singing and dancing. He also served as an usher for events held at the Classic Center and the Georgia Center. He is survived by a sister, Lois Phelps, Northfield, OH; a brother, Paul (Geri) Mecone, Streetsboro, OH; two daughters, Angela (Dave) Smoot, Bedford Heights, OH, and Julie Mecone, Streetsboro, OH; a son, Frank (Chris) Mecone Jr., Highland Heights, OH; nine grandchildren, Ted Muron, Tom Muron, Melissa (Mike) Rogowski, Patience (Robert) McCourt, Jeremiah DeFratis, Maria Mecone, Angela (Joey) Patterson, Sylvia Mecone, and Frank Mecone III.  Also surviving are twelve great-grandchildren and 10 nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home Streetsboro Chapel on Sunday, March 29th at 4:00pm officiated by Grace Western Reserve Church.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 2:00pm until the time of the service.
