Galen E. Godfrey 65 of Ravenna left for his Heavenly home unexpectedly on Monday, May 10, 2021, surround by his family. He was born September 14, 1955 in Ravenna, Ohio to the late Donald E. and Barbara Jean (Kerns) Godfrey. Besides his parents, he is proceeded in death by his nephews, Ricky M Schoepe and David P Smith.
Galen worked for UDS in Kent, and considered the staff and other clients as part of his extended family. He will be fondly remembered for his steadfast faith in the Lord Jesus, and always willing to share with others. Galen’s unconditional love for his family and those surrounding him set him up as the beacon within the circle. He never knew bias and never held grudges, Galen’s heart was pure and tender. If you knew him, or met him, you probably hold a piece of his art, as he would spend hours on end coloring his abstract art designs that he unselfishly loved to share.
Those left to cherish the memories and Galen’s unique idioms include his sisters Nancy Jo (Steve) Clifford, where he made his home, and Sherry (Greg) Smith, Mountainburg, AR. Nieces and nephews Todd (Patra) Clifford, Farrah Schoepe, Adam (Tiffany)Clifford, Shane Smith, Shelly (John) Busch and Ernie (Stephanie) Smith, several great nieces and nephews and special friends Tatiana and DeLisa.
Calling hours will be from 12 PM until time of funeral service at 3 PM Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to United Disability Services, 701 S. Main Street, Akron, Ohio 44311 or please send donations in Galens name to:
