Garnet Ethel Crislip, 93, of Clarksburg (Katy Lick), WV passed away on April 26,2014 at the Hospice House in Poland, Ohio of natural causes. Garnet was born in Marshville, WV on January 24, 1921 to the late Carl and Ethel (Estlack) Swiger.
Garnet was preceded in death by her loving husband William Crislip with whom she shared 56 wonderful years of marriage before his passing on September 12, 1994; daughters Deborah at birth and Winona; brothers Bernard and Willard; sisters Arvella, Ruby, Ruth, Mary; two brothers and two sisters at birth.
Garnet’s legacy is defined by her tremendous strength along with the benevolence and devotion she spent her lifetime giving to all that had the privilege and honor of calling her Mommie, Sis, Aunt Sis, Mammaw, Grannie, friend or neighbor. She most enjoyed spending time at home in her beloved West Virginia cooking and baking for her family, friends and neighbors. The final years of her 93 on this earth were difficult, yet she continued to exude courage, strength, humor and kindness giving those close to her a lifelong example to reflect upon and live by.
Garnet will be infinitely missed by her children, William Crislip of Newton Falls, OH, Willard Crislip of Leavittsburg, OH, Pamela (Robert) Hoffman of Lordstown, OH, Cathy Wolf of Cortland, OH, 12 grandchildren, 23 great –grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and a sister Lois Fox of Friendly, WV.
A funeral service will be held at Sardis Baptist Church on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 1:00 PM, where the family will receive friends two hours prior with burial immediately following at Sardis Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.sscfuneralhomes.com.
