George C. Cosko, age 85, of Streetsboro, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October, 2, 2012 at his home from complications of COPD. He was born on November 5, 1926 in Cleveland a son of the late, James and Marion (Gardner) Cosko. George was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in WWII. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church and retired from Conrail, where he worked as a switchboard operator. George also worked as a security guard and a driving instructor. He was also a member of the Streetsboro American Legion, VFW, and Eagles. He enjoyed playing billiards, cards, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family. George is survived by his children, Christine (Curt) Welcome of Windham, James (Pamela) Cosko of Plainfield, Indiana, Teresa (Jon) Baumgardner of Streetsboro, David (Michele) Cosko of Westerville, and George Cosko, Jr. of Streetsboro; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sisters, Helen (Tom) Powis of Parma and Jeanne (James) McCloskey, of Ocala, Florida. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his loving wife, Anna Mae Cosko; brothers, Robert and Leslie; and sister, Beatrice. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
