George "Ed" Douglas, 90, of Garrettsville, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024 at University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio. On April 17, 1934, he was born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Mitchell Douglas and Margaret (Reid) Stanton. Ed moved to Aurora as a child and attended Aurora schools where he excelled in Football and Baseball. Ed has lived in Garrettsville the past two years and was formerly of Mantua . He had retired from Ohio Bell where he worked as a foreman, but also was a longtime owner of Ed's Upper Deck in Mantua, Ohio. This is where he met life long friends and was well known in the community. Ed was also known for being a kind man who enjoyed being around people talking about old times and making new memories. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Jeffery Douglas and his sweetheart Kim Urban. His Survivors include his children Robert (Dawn) Douglas, Brian (Maria) Douglas, Kim M. Douglas, his grandchildren Michael, Dakota, Ashley, Brittany, Brandon, Luke, Jacob and great grandchildren Carson and Grace. His cousin Linda Legg. His bonus children Rachael and Megan and bonus grandchildren Abbey, Ryder, Grahm, Parker and Callie. Calling hours will be Saturday September 28, 2024 from 12 Noon until time of funeral services at 2:00 PM at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Streetsboro Chapel. In honoring his request, cremation will follow the services and a private family inurnment will be in Westlawn Cemetery Mantua, Ohio.
