George C. Smith

George C. Smith 92 of Kent, formerly of Ravenna, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2014 at his home.  He was born August 8, 1922 in Pineville, KY. He was a Machinist at Chrysler Motor from 1962-1985. He enjoyed playing the harmonica, was a member of the Ravenna Moose, and Eagles. He was very generous to his favorite charities.  George will be sadly missed  by his daughter, Ginny (Tim) Reis of Akron, son, Jed (Morgana) Smith of Kent, adopted daughter, Carol Wendt of Ravenna, grandchildren, Michelle, Brittany, adopted grandchildren, Ruby Carter, Donald Justice, Jeff Wendt, Trisha Wendt, great grandchildren, Evan, Jerid, Josh, Jesica, former wife and friend Violet Smith of Kent, He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lenard and Bud Smith.  Calling hours will be held from 10:00 AM till time of the services at 12:00 PM Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel.  Burial will be held Friday, October  17, 2014 in Riverview Memorial Garden, 29231 County Road 424, Defiance, OH 43512. The family would like to thank Western Reserve Hospice for the support and care of George.
