George C. Vaughan

George C. Vaughan 41 of Ravenna, passed away Sunday April 22, 2012. He was born December 16, 1970 in Youngstown, Ohio to the late George H. and Dorothy W. (Reed) Vaughan. George started working for General Motors in Lordstown in March of 1989 where he worked as an assembler / tow motor operator and was a member of the UAW Local #1112. He loved to play softball and ump softball, hardball and fastpitch, being a member of U.M.P.S. and the ASA. George enjoyed listening to country music especially George Straight and loved to country partner dance being a NorthEast Ohio Champion with his wife in 1994, 1995 and 1996. In his high school days, he was a heavy weight state wrestling champ and was scouted and recruited to play football for the University of Tennessee. He also loved his Washington Redskins, Ohio State Buckeyes and the WWE and listening to Joel Osteen. He never met a stranger and would help anyone at anytime, he is still helping others by choosing to donate to lifebank, he loved peace and harmony. Survivors include his wife of 13 years Joi (Reckner) Stephenson, his daughter whom he considered the light of his life , Alexandria, which he also called his "lil bit", step sons Heath (Candy) Stephenson, Craig (Tabitha ) Stephenson, step daughters Kassidy (Thomas) Stephenson-Ingram, Roni Jo Stephenson, Mackenzie Stephenson, step grandchildren Megan, Maddison, Logan, Rocky, Camden, his sister Andrea (Bruce) Deafenbaugh, and special friends Lee Ann , Bill, Katie, Natalie and Brian Ferguson. Calling hours will be Thursday April 26, 2012 from 1-30 - 4:00 PM and 6-8 PM and Friday April 27, 2012 11:00 AM until time of funeral services at 12 Noon at Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery Ravenna, Ohio.
