George Wilmington

Mr. James Russell Wilmington was born on September 8, 1943 in Ravenna, Ohio to Oley and Ruth (Winters) Wilmington.  James went home to be with our Lord on Saturday November 26, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown after a long illness.  James was a lovable guy who had a host of family and friends who lived him back.  He was the best father who loved his family and we loved him back.  James attended Ravenna Schools and was a graduate of Ravenna High School.  He then went to serve our country as a Private in the US Army where he earned a National Defense Service Medal.  After the Army, he married Patricia (Crockett) Wilmington who preceded  him in death on May 28, 1999.  James was employed by Kent State University where he retired after 30 years of service and was a member of the Allen Chapel AME Church in Ravenna.  He is survived by his children Tara (Ahmed) Wilmington-Ponder, Tim (Stacy) Wilmington, Craig (Kendra) Wilmington all of Ravenna, his mother Ruth Wilmington of Chicago, Illinois, eight grandchildren and brother Walter Wilmington of Chicago, Illinois.  Besides his wife Patricia, he was preceded in death by his father Oley Wilmington and brother Lloyd Wilmington.  Calling hours will be from 11:00 AM  Friday December 2, 2011 until time of funeral services at 12 Noon at the Allen Chapel AME in Ravenna, Ohio.  Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery  Ravenna, Ohio.
