Gerald V. Wilson, 88, of Ravenna, Ohio, peacefully passed away on July 30th, surrounded by his loved ones. Born in 1938 in Akron, Ohio, Gerald attended South High School and later the University of Akron. He retired from Ohio Edison after 37 years of service where he worked as an A lineman, He cherished life, family, and friends, always ready to lend a helping hand. Gerald had a passion for hunting, competitive shooting, and Indian artifacts. A lifelong outdoorsman; He was an avid muzzleloader and bow hunter, a member of the American Mountain Man Association, a guide for hunts in Colorado, and a historian of both World War I and World War II. Additionally, he volunteered as a Range Safety Officer at the Salem Hunting Club youth days. He is preceded in death by his wife, Cherie, with whom he shared over 40 years, as well as his parents, Mabel and Virgil Wilson, beloved grandparents and many close friends. Gerald is survived by his children: Deborah Stone (Brad) of California, Karen Olson (Warren) of California, Christine Todaro of Akron, Sandra Hall of Florida, Karen (Scott) Luthy of Florida, James Wilson (Allie) of Delaware, Ohio and Shawn Powell of Cuyahoga Falls. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Camille and Anthony Todaro, Ryan Olson, Justin and Shannen Limbach, Benjamin and William Wilson, Alex and Macie Moneypenny, and Lilly Powell, along with all of his great-grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by his sweetheart of three years, Dixie McCreery. Calling hours will be Saturday August 8, 2026 at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel from 11:00 AM until time of funeral services at 12:15 PM Following the service, we will proceed to Charlestown Cemetery for graveside services located at 6974 Newton Falls Rd. Afterward, all are invited to Charlestown Hall up the street located at 6368 Rock Spring Rd for a celebration of life with food and refreshments. All are welcome.
