Harold E. Dohse

Harold E. "Bill" Dohse 88 of Ravenna and a lifelong Portage County resident, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010. He was born January 19, 1922 in Shalersville Township to the late Ernest and Sina (Mooney) Dohse. A US Army Air Corp veteran of WWII, he was proud to have served his country and proudly flew his flag at home. He was a life member and past commander of the VFW Post #1055 in Ravenna, enjoyed boating, camping and traveling to Florida in his motor home. Mr. Dohse was part owner and a mechanic for Paul G. Mills Company in Ravenna. Survivors include his wife of 69 1/2 years, Dorothy (Tice), daughter Diane (David) Rock of Ravenna, son Robert (Lee) Dohse of FL, 4 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, sister Wanda Johnson of Cincinnati, OH and brother Richard (Norma) Dohse of Ravenna. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Donald Dohse. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, July 5, 2010 at Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel with Rev. William Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park in Ravenna. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Robinson Memorial Foundation, 6847 N. Chestnut Street, Ravenna, OH 44266. The family would like to thank the caregivers and hospice workers at Robinson Memorial for the care shown to Mr. Dohse and thank Mrs. Dohse (our mother) who cared for him over the past few years.
