Harold E Mcmullen

October 11, 1931 — May 19, 2024

Shalersville Twp.

On Sunday, May 19, 2024 Harold E. McMullen passed away at his home in Shalersville, Ohio. He was born October 11, 1931 in Susquehanna, PA to the late Harold and Ethel (Lake) McMullen. Harold had lived in Shalersville since 1963 and had retired from Colonial Machine in Kent after 43 years of service. Harold grew up in Kent, married his high school sweetheart, Janet, and they spent 70 wonderful years together. They had many interests and hobbies. First, there was a boating and tent camping period followed by a period when they had a barn full of horses and ponies to ride plus beef cattle in the pasture. When their children were middle school age, they got out of the livestock phase, moved on to recreational vehicles and joined the Holiday Rambler Travel Club. The family traveled together frequently, had many great memory making trips and made lifelong friends with club members. After their children were grown, Harold and Janet continued to travel extensively throughout the United States and Canada in their motor home. However, Harold's greatest joy was his family. He always had an encouraging word, a smile or a hug for them. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janet on September 17, 2023, and siblings Robert McMullen, Mary Butler, James McMullen and his grandson Curtis's wife, Allyson McMullen. He leaves behind children Kathleen (Roger) Graham, Larry (Rita Goodman) McMullen, Ron (Chris) McMullen, his grandchildren, Chad (Jamie) McMullen, Heather (Jameson) Maag, Melissa (Chris) Reye, Nick McMullen, Evan (McKenna) Graham and Curtis McMullen, his great grandchildren Anna McMullen, Hadlee, Graham and Lucas Maag, Abigail and Andrew Reye, and brother Jerry McMullen to cherish his memory. In honoring his requests, cremation has taken place and private family services have been held.
