Helen H. (Hobbs) Boone

Helen H. Boone 93 of Ravenna died peacefully Saturday, August 18, 2018 at her home. She was born September 22, 1924 in Georgetown, PA the fifth of six children on the family dairy farm to Leonard B. and Jesse (Quigley) Hobbs. Helen was a 50 year member of the Poland Presbyterian Church and was currently a member of the First Christian Church of Ravenna, and a 60 year member of the D.A.R. She was a teacher and librarian for Poland Junior High School, Salem Public Library, and the Warren Public Library. Amongst the many interests she had were travelling the world, sailing, beach combing for shells, reading, crossword puzzles, growing beautiful flowers, sitting on the back porch swing and of course spending time with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Survivors include her children Ray (Cheryl) Boone of Ravenna and Myrna (Dan) Boone Eaton of Dubbo, New South Wales, Australia, 6 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and sister Emily H. Way of State College, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 58 years Joseph, sister Kathy, brothers Robert, Bruce, and Craig, daughter in law Tina, and grandson Dane. Calling hours will be from 4 - 7 PM Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10 AM Friday, August 24, 2018 at the First Christian Church of Ravenna with Rev. Laurie Metzko officiating. Burial will follow in Mill Creek Cemetery in Hookstown, PA.
