Helen Jean (Thornberry) Nickol

Helen Jean Nickol, 83, of Kent, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2014 at Robinson Memorial Hospital with her family by her side. She was born on February 23, 1930 in Barnesville, to the late, Wilbur and Gertrude (Truex) Thornberry. Helen was a member of the Church of Christ in Ravenna. She is survived by her daughters, Valarie Forst of Barnesville and Connie (Gary) Stephen of Barnesville; sons, Brad Nickol of Kent and Kevin Nickol of Garrettsville; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister Donna Jones of Sardis; and brother Dale Pickens of Garland, Texas. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Nickol; and sisters, Gladys Van Ord and Velma Mosser. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 12PM until the 1:30 PM service at the Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel, with Rev. Bill Craddock officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to the Robinson Memorial Hospice and Visiting Nurses, 6847 N. Chestnut St., Ravenna, OH 44266.
