Herbert H. "Skip" McElravy 73 of Streetsboro died Saturday, May 3, 2014. He was born July 1, 1940 in Akron, Ohio to Herbert and Ruby (Drown) McElravy. Skip served his community as a boy scout leader and was on the Streetsboro Fire Department for 21 years retiring as Assistant Chief in 1989. He was an active member of the Streetsboro United Methodist Church, where he served as chairperson of the trustees and was in the Men's Club. He and his wife, Nancy owned and operated Post Products Inc. in Kent for 30 years. Skip was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He loved to cook and bake, and lived life to it's fullest. As a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife of over 53 years, Nancy (Price) daughters Lisa (Leo) Carrillo of Avon Park, FL and Tina McElravy of Cleveland, son Jay (Katherine) McElravy of Ravenna, 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, sister Violet Sharp of Cuyahoga Falls and brother Donald McElravy of Streetsboro. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Carrie Yustin. Calling hours will be from 4 - 8 PM Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Streetsboro Chapel and from 10 AM to time of funeral service at 11 AM Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Streetsboro United Methodist Church, 8940 St. Rt. 43 Streetsboro, Ohio with Reverend Byron George officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park in Ravenna. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to the Streetsboro United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 2005, Streetsboro, Ohio 44241.
