Ivan Jr. Shipp

Ivan Jr. Shipp, 73, of Ravenna died unexpectedly Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Robinson Memorial Hospital. He was born July 29, 1938 in Akron, Ohio to Ivan and Pauline (Zdicham) Shipp. He graduated from Mogadore High School and served in the US Air Force. As a Ravenna resident for the past 35 years, Ivan worked as a truck driver, a self-employed mechanic, and in many aspects of construction. He retired from Decker Transportation. Survivors include his wife of 35 years Aleene (Hunley), daughter Tina Shipp of Gulf Shores, AL, son Ivan (Tammy) Shipp III of Bay Minette, AL, grandchildren LCpl David, Eric, and Brett Linkenhoker and Ivan Shipp IV, great grandson Ivan V, mother Pauline Shipp, sister Marian (Charles) Sherman of Pleasant Hills, PA and brother Paul (Carmella) Shipp of Rootstown. He was preceded in death by his father Ivan and brothers Pete and Michael Shipp. Calling hours will be from 10 AM to time of service at 12 noon Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel with Reverend David Henry officiating. Burial will follow in Edinburg Cemetery in Edinburg Township. In lieu of flowers the family requests you remember Ivan with a loving visit to a friend or family member.
