James D. Gaines 79 of Mantua died Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at his residence. He was born May 1, 1938 in Alvy, WV to Arlie and Nellie (Butler) Gaines. Jim was a tow truck driver for Menards Towing and enjoyed stock car races, fishing and gardening. He is survived by his daughters Melodie (Rick) Felter of New Matamoras and Shirley (Mark) Witt of Ravenna, grandchildren RJ Felter, Billy, Felter, Leeta McDole, Tricia Barker and Misty Hart, 11 great grandchildren and siblings Ernie Gaines of GA, Sandy Peters of Broadview Heights and Vickie Clardy of Akron. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 59 years Patricia, 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Jim will be missed by a multitude of family and friends. Calling hours will be from 2 - 4 PM Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Streetsboro Chapel. Cremation will follow the calling hours.
