James Harry Goodmote, Jr

James Harry Goodmote, Jr., 73 of Rootstown, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2026. James was born in West Point, New York on May 27, 1953 to his late parents James H. Goodmote, Sr., and Margaret A. (Geer) Goodmote. He graduated from Streetsboro High School in 1971 and had worked as a truck driver, retiring from Kaplan Trucking Company in Cleveland in 2015 after 39 years of service. Jim was known for his big heart and generous gift of helping others. His greatest accomplishment was helping to build his church. He was a faithful nursery worker for 20 years. He was loved by all and had a sense of humor that made folks smile. He will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Denise Senters. James is survived by his wife Vaughna C. Goodmote, whom he married on July 19, 1975, his children Jennifer (Jeff) Tauring, Julie (Matt) Molnar and Jana (Joe) Bernardo, his grandchildren Kelley Tauring, Kaitlyn Tauring, Luke Molnar, Lucy (Gavin) Toth, Alayna Bernardo, Andrew Bernardo, Bailey Bernardo and Clara Bernardo, his siblings Willie Goodmote and Cathy LaFlame and his in laws Chuck Draves and Charis (Brian) Kepich. He also leaves behind many other family members and close friends. A private graveside service will be held at the Homeland Cemetery in Rootstown, Ohio.
